Roger Burke (flute and sax), Santo Cimino (guitar), Bruce Stephen (bass), and Phil Stitt (drums & vocals) play modern mainstream – Gershwin, Kern, Monk, Mingus, Ellington. Features ‘Ella’ styled vocalist Christie Schlenker.

HLQ started the jazz phenomenon – Jazz in The Basement on the Gold Coast. Harry Lynn (piano), Peter McLaughlin (bass), Warren Whittaker (drums), and Mal Wood (trumpet). Consummate performers in the tradition of great jazz.

August. Thursday 28 – 7.30pm.
George Washingmachine String Band
Swinging and eccentric singer as well as dazzling violin player and unabashed showman. (In between world tours, George appears at all the major jazz and arts festivals in Australia. And of course, Lismore.

September. Sunday 21 – 2.00pm.
Cam Ford – Gypsy Jazz Manouche
Cam (virtuoso guitar), Jérémie Nagabbo (rhythm guitar), Shenzo Gregorio (violin), Peter Walters (double bass). Burning Gypsy swing. These guys are the real deal.

October. Sunday 19 – 2.00pm.
The Romaniacs
The Romaniacs original music has been inspired by Gypsy, Folk, Latin, Celtic, Spanish and Eastern roots grooves. Phil Levy (mandolin, guitar, vocals), Leo Glass (guitars, vocals), Guy Madigan (bodhran & percussion).

November. Thursday 27 – 7.30pm.
The Date Bros
Ian Date, is widely recognised as Australia’s best swing jazz guitarist. Performs regularly in Ireland, (where he now resides) Europe and Lismore. Nigel Date plays with the Djangologists, Peppermint T and others. Together, they are the Date Brothers and they’re bloody good.

December. Sunday 7 – 2.00pm.
Chrissy Jam Session
LJC stalwart and impresario Davey Rankin + guests. If you play a little jazz, pop along with your favourite instrument. BBQ, cool ales, elephant rides, maybe even party hats and streamers. (I lied about the elephant rides.)
